This is the Minimalist Plate Carrier by Grey Ghost Gear – this product is a prime example of “does what it says on the tin”.
I was gonna do a video of it, but theirs already covers all the bases; there’s two spots for 10×12 plates, 6 rows of webbing (which fits the cuffs in my last post), and not much else.
You can see the mesh in this photo, it makes it comfortable-ish to wear; certainly not the most comfy PC in the world but not terrible by any means – again, it’s deliberately minimalist for a reason.
This happens to be the OD green one that was on super sale recently; you can see it goes wonderfully with my woodland combat shirt (you’re jealous I know).
My only quibble with the product is as you can see above, the shoulder straps are a touch long for somebody with my frame, and the Velcro doesn’t get 100% engagement when the carrier is riding correctly, which is a little disappointing. I may see if I can have them shortened at some point, but it’s not a huge deal. For reference, I’m 5’10 and about 165 lbs.
Overall I am pleased, and I met the guys from Grey Ghost at SHOT show this year and they’re all cool, which I really like – always better to buy from folks you like doing business with.
Hopefully they’ll see this and send me something to evaluate with more features, but either way I plan to be a customer of theirs going forward!
