Here, for your viewing pleasure, is my second Kershaw Emerson knife, courtesy of a buddy of mine I bought it from. Like two years ago. Long story, a deployment, etc.
Anyhow, this particular model is the CQC-6K – I’m not sure exactly what the model number stands for (other than Close Quarters Combat I guess), but it’s a nice knife. I don’t see it on the Kershaw site, but places like Blade HQ still have plenty in stock.
It’s very similar to my other Kershaw Emerson, the knife formerly known as my only Emerson, with a bit tighter QC work and some better attention to detail.
Overall I’m quite pleased with the knife – it’s got the hallmark Emerson Wave feature, and rides a bit higher in the pocket when compared to, say, my CRKT knife I carry most days at work.
Not crazy high, but enough to get a good drawing grip and utilize the Wave function. It deploys a bit nicer than my DPX HEST, but that’s largely due to how tightly the DPX locks up.
Also, for a relatively plain knife overall, it has a fairly pleasing-to-the-eyes appearance, or at least I think so but I have lots of gray and black, so your mileage may vary.
Finally, certain knife friends have indicated to me that if you want an Emerson, the Kershaws may actually be your best bet; apparently some of the QC on the official Emerson stuff has been… lacking in recent years.
Also, the price point is right for a knife you carry around every day – as of this writing they’re available around the $35 price point in fact.
