Seismic Shift (mini-post)

What, you think I forgot how to do campy titles?

I’ll be talking a bit more about this company in a future post, but the guys at Valkyrie Combat really took care of me when I got the bug to customize my CRKT Seismic.

It’s a bit hard to tell because of the lighting, but this is actually a bronze color. It looks pretty neat, and really addressed my bug to customize this knife. If I were to go back again I’d also have had them Cerakote the button of the Deadbolt lock, but otherwise it looks pretty neat!

One advantage of the Cerakote is its corrosion protection – it’s a polymer ceramic composite, only about 1 mil in thickness, and provides a lovely smooth surface.

Incidentally, they can do more than just solid colors – in fact, they do all kinds of cool stuff out at Valkyrie…

The designer of the Seismic actually handled this knife after I had it coated, and was impressed that not only did the parts still fit perfectly, the action of the knife actually seemed to improve with the coating.

I also want to shout out to the good folks at Wicked Edge for sharpening my knife at their booth post-coating – not only was the product on point, but the people were friendly and helpful.

We’ll see if I can get one of these at some point, I’d really like to get hands on with it.
